HSK 3 is where Mandarin starts to get interesting — and where most self-taught learners stall. The seven patterns in this pack cover about 80% of what the HSK 3 reading and writing sections test:
- 是…的 (shì…de) — emphasising how, when, or where an action took place
- 了 (le) — completed action vs. change of state
- 把 (bǎ) — the disposal marker
- 被 (bèi) — passive voice
- 的 / 得 / 地 (de) — the three de particles
- 在 (zài) — location vs. progressive aspect
- 比 (bǐ) — comparison
Each section gives the pattern in two or three short sentences, the literal and natural English translations, the common learner mistake (e.g. overusing 了), and a practice question. The PDF pairs naturally with the HSK Quiz app’s adaptive algorithm — once you can answer questions on these patterns at HSK 3 accuracy, you are ready for HSK 4.
